Is “Dog Mom” trademarked?

The short answer

Status: No longer registered. None of the exact-match USPTO records we checked are live (checked Oct. 18, 2026, about 3:10 PM PT).

None of the merch-class records we checked is live. The only DOG MOM registration among them, #DOG MOM for mugs and can coolers (class 21), was cancelled in November 2024 after the owner didn't file its Section 8 declaration. Two later DOG MOM applications covering clothing and gift items are dead.

Goods text is quoted from the USPTO record and shortened where marked “…”. Classes listed are international classes. A dash (—) means no registration has issued.

Mark type matters. A standard-character mark covers the wording itself, in any font or style. A stylized or design (logo) mark is registered as shown, and how far it reaches to the same words in plain text is fact-specific. A trademark attorney can tell you how it applies to your design.

About this check. This page lists only the 3 USPTO records shown above. We picked them from a limited sample of search results (the top 100 results per phrase search, when a common phrase can have thousands of related filings) and verified each one on its USPTO TSDR status page. Other filings, live or dead, may exist. Where this page says "none," it means none in the records we checked.

What it means for your products

Mugs and drinkware (class 21). The Dapper Paw, LLC registered #DOG MOM for mugs and insulated can holders in 2018 (Reg. No. 5455416). TSDR shows the registration cancelled on Nov. 8, 2024. A cancelled registration can't be enforced as a registration.

Shirts and apparel (class 25). BLUE TEES INC's 2017 application for shirts and hats was abandoned in 2018. Open Road Brands, LLC's 2020 application covered aprons, key chains, decals, journals, towels and dog toys across many classes. It was abandoned in December 2021.

Stickers and jewelry. None in the records we checked. (Open Road Brands' dead application listed journals, decals and key-chain charms.)

Why this still needs watching. Popular niche phrases get new applications regularly. "No live record today" is a snapshot, not a guarantee, and a phrase with "mom" in it attracts constant filings.

Variant ideas (not guaranteed to be clear)

Variants are starting points, not clearances. Any new wording can match a record we didn't list or a filing made after our check. Run every final phrase through a search before you list it.
