It's pending. Girlboss Holdings Inc. has a live, pending application for GIRLBOSS (one word, in a stylized lettering design, not a plain-text word mark) covering stickers, journals and planners (class 16) and hats, sweatshirts, sweatpants and tops (class 25). TSDR shows the application suspended as of May 30, 2026. Two earlier GIRLBOSS clothing applications by the same company are dead.

Goods text is quoted from the USPTO record and shortened where marked “…”. Classes listed are international classes. A dash (—) means no registration has issued.
Mark type matters. A standard-character mark covers the wording itself, in any font or style. A stylized or design (logo) mark is registered as shown, and how far it reaches to the same words in plain text is fact-specific. A trademark attorney can tell you how it applies to your design. USPTO mark descriptions:
Serial 97522986: The mark consists of the stylized drawing of the wording "girlboss".
Serial 87959379: The mark consists of stylized lowercase "GIRLBOSS".
About this check. This page lists only the 3 USPTO records shown above. We picked them from a limited sample of search results (the top 100 results per phrase search, when a common phrase can have thousands of related filings) and verified each one on its USPTO TSDR status page. Other filings, live or dead, may exist. Where this page says "none," it means none in the records we checked.
Shirts and apparel (class 25). Serial 97522986, filed July 27, 2022, lists hats, headwear, bottoms, sweatpants, sweatshirts and tops. It isn't registered, but a pending application is a clear signal that the owner wants rights in apparel. If it registers, enforcement becomes simpler for them.
Stickers, journals, planners (class 16). The same application covers stickers and journals, which are core POD products.
Earlier filings. A 2018 clothing application (serial 87959379) was abandoned in 2022 when no Statement of Use was filed, and a December 2021 one was expressly abandoned in January 2022.
Stylized, and one word. Both GIRLBOSS records here are stylized designs of the word. If it registers, a stylized mark protects the mark as shown. How far it reaches to the plain words, or to "Girl Boss" as two words, depends on facts a trademark attorney can assess. Spacing alone isn't a reliable dividing line, because comparisons also consider sound and meaning.
Variants are starting points, not clearances. Any new wording can match a record we didn't list or a filing made after our check. Run every final phrase through a search before you list it.
One phrase is easy to look up. Hundreds of listings aren't. PhraseSafe checks the titles and tags in your Etsy or Shopify listings export against USPTO trademark records in merch classes and flags matches with status, class, owner and filing date. Starter scans up to 500 listings at a time. Pro adds a monthly new-filing check and daily status checks on marks you watch, with results shown on your PhraseSafe dashboard. Paid plans are activated with a license key.
