Status: No longer registered. None of the exact-match USPTO records we checked are live (checked Oct. 18, 2026, about 3:10 PM PT).
Not as an exact-match registration in the merch classes we checked. The broad U.S. registration owned by Keep Calm and Carry On Ltd. (UK), covering clothing, mugs, stationery, bags and jewelry, was cancelled in July 2018 for a missing Section 8 declaration. An earlier posters application was abandoned in 2009.

Goods text is quoted from the USPTO record and shortened where marked “…”. Classes listed are international classes. A dash (—) means no registration has issued.
Mark type matters. A standard-character mark covers the wording itself, in any font or style. A stylized or design (logo) mark is registered as shown, and how far it reaches to the same words in plain text is fact-specific. A trademark attorney can tell you how it applies to your design. USPTO mark descriptions:
Serial 77609750: The mark consists of a silhouette of the Spirit of Detroit statue above stylized text "KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON".
About this check. This page lists only the 2 USPTO records shown above. We picked them from a limited sample of search results (the top 100 results per phrase search, when a common phrase can have thousands of related filings) and verified each one on its USPTO TSDR status page. Other filings, live or dead, may exist. Where this page says "none," it means none in the records we checked.
All core merch classes (14, 16, 18, 21, 25). Reg. No. 4066622 once covered T-shirts, sweatshirts, caps, mugs, crockery, greeting cards, notebooks, tote bags, cufflinks and jewelry. TSDR shows it cancelled on July 13, 2018.
Posters (class 16). Sean Gray's 2008 application for posters was a logo (a silhouette of the Spirit of Detroit statue above stylized text), not the plain words. It was abandoned in September 2009.
Other filings. This page covers only the two records in the table. There are also many registrations for "Keep Calm and [something else]" phrases. Those are different marks, and some may be live. Check your exact wording.
Why it matters. The phrase comes from a World War II–era British government poster and is widely used. Whether a company owns it in the U.S. has changed over time. Today's dead status is a snapshot.
Variants are starting points, not clearances. Any new wording can match a record we didn't list or a filing made after our check. Run every final phrase through a search before you list it.
One phrase is easy to look up. Hundreds of listings aren't. PhraseSafe checks the titles and tags in your Etsy or Shopify listings export against USPTO trademark records in merch classes and flags matches with status, class, owner and filing date. Starter scans up to 500 listings at a time. Pro adds a monthly new-filing check and daily status checks on marks you watch, with results shown on your PhraseSafe dashboard. Paid plans are activated with a license key.
