Is “Stay Humble” trademarked?

This page is informational only and is not legal advice. Trademark status can change; confirm with the USPTO or a trademark attorney.

The short answer

There's a live registration, but it's a stylized mark, not a plain-text word mark. Matthew Fraser owns Reg. No. 6332180 (registered April 27, 2021) for the stylized wording "Stay Humble," covering hats, T-shirts, sweatshirts, pants, socks and more in class 25. A stylized registration protects the mark as shown. How far it reaches to the same words in a different font is fact-specific, so ask a trademark attorney if it matters for your shop. A second application, for a cursive "Stay Humble" design covering headwear, was filed on Oct. 5, 2026 and is awaiting examination.

Mark type matters. A standard-character mark covers the wording itself, in any font or style. A stylized or design (logo) mark is registered as shown, and how far it reaches to the same words in plain text is fact-specific. A trademark attorney can tell you how it applies to your design. USPTO mark descriptions:
Serial 88958093: The mark consists of the stylized wording "Stay Humble".
Serial 50145411: The mark consists of the stylized wording "Stay Humble" in a cursive script font, with the word "Stay" positioned above the word "Humble", and two thick underline strokes beneath the word "Humble".
Serial 90173093: The mark consists of white or black stay humble words with red heart, black mouth and black eyes inside heart with the words 4 life across the top. white tear drop is also displayed under the right eye.

About this check. This page lists only the 3 USPTO records shown above. We picked them from a limited sample of search results (the top 100 results per phrase search, when a common phrase can have thousands of related filings) and verified each one on its USPTO TSDR status page. Other filings, live or dead, may exist. Where this page says "none," it means none in the records we checked.

What it means for your products

Shirts, hoodies and hats (class 25). The registered goods include T-shirts, sweatshirts, polo shirts, sweatpants, jackets, hats and socks, which is essentially the full POD apparel range. The registration is for the stylized lettering, so a design that copies that look sits closest to it. Plain-text use is a grayer area. Treat it as a risk, not a clear yes or no.

Headwear specifically. Antoine J Sterling Jr's application (serial 50145411) is for a cursive "Stay Humble" design with two underline strokes, covering knitted caps, baseball caps, bucket caps and other headwear. It was filed two weeks before this page was written. A pending application isn't a registration, but it shows ongoing interest in the phrase for hats.

Dead filings. StayHumble4L LLC's 2020 clothing application (a heart-face logo with the words) was abandoned in 2021.

Mugs, stickers, bags. None in the records we checked for classes 21, 16 or 18. A class 25 owner may still complain about related goods, though.

Variant ideas (not guaranteed to be clear)

Variants are starting points, not clearances. Any new wording can match a record we didn't list or a filing made after our check. Run every final phrase through a search before you list it.
